Organisers of the Indian Telly Awards snubbed the Bollywood fraternity by not inviting film stars to Friday's celebration honouring television performers.

"TV rocks! Why do we need Bollywood stars? Yes, it is true that we did not invite any Bollywood stars for this event," tells Anil Wanwari of Indiantelevision.com.

Television celebrities attended the event in full force. But the evening clearly belonged to two people: actress Mona Singh, the heroine in Sony's hit comedy "Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin", and Rajiv Khandelwal, who plays Sujal in the Star Plus drama "Kahiin To Hoga".

"Jassi" won the awards for Best Female Television Personality and Best Female Actor. Khandelwal won awards for Best Male Debutant and Best Male Television Personality.

The lead pair of Balaji Telefilms' "Kahiin To Hoga" - Khandelwal and Aamna Shariff - won the Sangini TV Couple of the Year award.

"Kahiin to Hoga" also took home awards for Best Daily Serial and Best Ensemble of the year, while "Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin" won the award for Best TV Programme of the Year.

Star India's Peter Mukerjea was adjudged CEO of the Year for the fourth consecutive time.

Balaji Telefilms took the honours for TV Production House of the Year.

There were no surprises in the Entertainment Channel of the Year category, Star Plus being the winner again.

The Anchor of the Year award went to Shekhar Suman for SAB TV's "Carry On Shekhar", while Rajdeep Sardesai of NDTV was adjudged News Anchor of the Year.

Sheeraz Hasan, the only Asian TV host to have interviewed almost every major Hollywood star, was given the Hall of Fame award.

Ironically, Bollywood "item numbers" followed each presentation. The most hilarious of these dances had an ensemble of elderly television performers gyrating to sexy Bollywood songs.
