Sonam Kapoor has asked her father Anil to talk to her Mausam director Pankaj Kapoor about the film's slow progress.
The Kapoor papas will meet for dinner at producer Sheetal Talwar's residence this week to sort out the problem.
Differences have cropped up over the actress's inability to cope with the director's leisurely pace. Says a source, "Sonam has already allotted 140 days to the film.
The tally is expected to rise by at least 20 more days. The girl has cried to her father for help in desperation. The film is expected to go over-budget by Rs.10 crores."
Ironically, Pankaj Kapoor stipulated in all his contracts as an actor for the films that he did with producer Sheetal Talwar that he'd work no more than 6 hours.
But now when he's on the other side of the camera, actors have to be on location throughout the day."
Further delay
Mausam was further delayed when Shahid Kapoor left for South Africa earlier this week for a show. When he returned, he shot for an ad in Mumbai.
The expensive set near Chandigarh was abandoned for a week while he went away. All work had come to a standstill.
Continues the source, "Pankaj has turned out to be a fine director. But he's an old-school technician.
He takes time setting up his shots, getting the lighting ready etc. Sonam needs a lot of makeup, elaborate gowns and hair extensions, for her part.
She starts makeup by 8 in the morning and is ready in two hours. Then Pankajji takes his time to shoot. Anil intends to explain to Pankaj Kapoor that time is money."
The need for an emergency meeting was felt because Sonam's delayed schedule was playing havoc with Anees Bazmee's Thank You which is nearing completion.
Sheetal confirms, "Yes, I'm inviting Pankajji and Anilji to dinner for some serious discussions as soon as Anilji returns from Toronto."
FACT: Anil and Pankaj had acted in Chameli Ki Shaadi (1986) together and have remained friends since.
