Sunny Deol has had a falling out with the Yamla Pagla Deewana director, Samir Karnik. A source present at the recently held bash at the Deol residence swears that they almost came to blows.
The source reveals what went down, "Samir was a few drinks down. Forgetting where he was, he made a snide remark about Sunny's relationship with Dimple Kapadia.
One of the guests who heard the remark immediately brought it to Sunny's attention."
A livid Deol rushed towards the director to punch him. But the filmmaker quickly gathered his wits and hurriedly left the place. Adds the source, "His remark has completely damaged his relationship with the family.
Though they've delivered a hit together, the Deols will never work with Karnik again" The director previously directed Bobby Deol in Nanhe Jaisalmer and has been a friend of the Deol brothers for years but now it appears that after his off-colour remark, he has been thrown out from their inner circle.
A different version
Samir was also missing from YPD's success party held this month. While source close to Deols claimed that Karnik was out of country to be with an ailing relative, the man himself had a different version.
He said, "I was in Delhi for some work." On being told that about the "ailing relative abroad" story that was given to explain his absence, he changed his statement to, "Yes my relative in Delhi has some health problem."
While the film's sequel is yet to be announced, it's clear that there will be no burying of the hatchet here.
However Samir is in denial and maintains, "I will be doing the sequel of YPD, " he insists, adding, "The film is still in the scripting stage." The Deols weren't available for comment.
