Like medicine, fame can generate queasy side-effects. Television's latest poster-boy, Sushant Singh Rajput, is getting a taste of this truth.
As Manav Deshmukh, the lead actor in Ekta Kapoor's daily soap Pavitra Rishta, Singh has amassed a huge fan following which has swelled as he has grown into one of the favourite contestants on celebrity dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.
Here's the spoiler: an imposter is using Singh's moniker to create a fake profile on popular social networking site Facebook, and is communicating with the actor's fans.
"I was surprised when I heard about my profile on Facebook, " says Singh. "I haven't created one. If you look at the updates you realise that the imposter is following my life closely. Like the time I was heading to Goa. An update popped up saying, 'On my way to Goa.' It's scary."
Singh says the idea of engaging with his fans is inviting but professional commitments make it tough for him to sneak out time to log on. "I would love to connect with my fans some day though, through my official website or blog."
Till then, the dancing dude is requesting fans not to go by profiles posted by wannabe Sushant Singhs.
