Citing a recent incident involving Bipasha, as the trigger Kareena Kapoor has joined a campaign that aims to create "a safe India for women".
What got her to sign on? Believe it or not, the recent molestation incident involving frenemy Bipasha Basu.
A source close to Bebo says, "She feels that her association will aid awareness to the problem. When someone like Bipasha Basu is not spared, no woman truly is safe."
"Kareena joining our campaign is a major boost for us, because she represents the modern, fearless woman of today and her endorsement will enable others who look up to her as a role model to speak out as well, " says a source from the channel spearheading the initiative.
The actress wants the hard facts to be highlighted and getting citizens to sign the petition to be presented before the President, Pratibha Patil, also, a woman!
A source from the channel says, "The Shakti campaign is a way of reminding India that violence against women in India today is indiscriminate, regardless of a woman's earning power, class or caste.
We need to reclaim and reinforce the indisputable fact that any violence of any form against women be it physical, sexual or mental is unacceptable.
BIPS-KAREENA JHAGDA
The two actresses got squabbling early on in their careers in Abbas-Mustaan's Ajnabee. Kareena had called Bipasha a "kaali billi" for a trivial reason. Bips, relatively new in the industry at the time, took it in her stride.
Later on, Bebo even called Basu's guy, John Abraham "expressionless". Bipasha retorted by saying that the Kapoor girl had too many expressions.
