The actress, who walked the ramp in a short white dress by designer Arpan Vohra at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week (LFW), gets in touch with designers and photographers through the site.
"I met Arpan for the first time through Facebook. I had bought his clothes from Kimaya and I loved them so much that I decided to get in touch with him and tell him to design some more for me. That's how I got to know him, " Riya, 30, told reporters here.
"Facebook is a good medium of getting in touch with people. I had got in touch with another designer, Pam, through it. I have also got in touch with photographers from Paris and some other countries. So you can use this medium to your advantage. I love it and I'm sure, so do a lot of people, " she added.
Arpan's collection was an extension of the sailor girl style, which have key elements connected to all things nautical including ropes, chords and anchor inspired metal studs and knots. The colours aptly used were white, red and sea green, along with silver studs and zipper effects to complete the look.
The clothes primarily were casual and sporty, including wide-legged sailor pants, jackets and swim wear.
"We were planning to do a show together for quite some time now but somehow every time some or the other problem used to come up. Finally, this time I did walk the ramp for him and I'm happy, " said Riya.
"I loved the collection because its very different from what he actually does. I selected this outfit from the entire collection because I love white and I loved the way he has designed it, " added the actress, who was last seen in "Paying Guests" in 2009.
In the past, celebrities like Katrina Kaif, Malaika Arora Khan, Juhi Chawla, Dia Mirza, Chitrangada Singh and Sania Mirza were seen in Arpan's designs.
