"INDIA beats Pakistan in the World Cup and goes to the finals! What a day and what a culmination of events! At last India breathes normally. Well played India. Each player contributed tonight in its final victory. And well played Pakistan for a closely fought competition. This was the big one!" he wrote on his blog.
"For most Indians, and I am sure for our neighbours too, this was in many respects the final. It always is when our two countries play. Congratulations then to (M.S.) Dhoni's team and wishing you the very best for the April 2 (final) at the Wankhede Stadium, " he added.
The India-Pakistan showdown Mohali Wednesday was witnessed by quite a few Bollywood celebrities like Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, Preity Zinta and Vivek Oberoi.
The 68-year-old Bachchan, however, missed the action as he was busy shooting for his film "Bbuddah", but was delighted to see how the people celebrated the win.
"I shot through the entire game for 'BBUDDAH' and yelps and screams of delight as each Pakistani wicket falls greets us at regular intervals, along with a burst of fire-crackers! The streets were empty throughout the day. Not a soul on the road. And now as the game ends in our favor it is madness outside, " he posted.
"Cheering and screaming fans on mobikes, cars whatever mode of travel, the Indian tricolour waving in their excited hands, horns blowing - the entire city has come alive!! What an atmosphere! Hadn't seen this in a long time!!"
