The child actor was supposed to head to Los Angeles for a Walt Disney promotion, but he chose to listen to his parents and stay home instead
He may play a superhero in Walt Disney's latest production Zokkomon, but for Mr and Mrs Safary, Darsheel is the good son who does their bidding. Darsheel was invited to attend the Indian Film Festival Of Los
Angeles where Zokkomon will be screened on the prestigious closing night gala on April 17.
According to sources, producers Walt Disney were very keen to introduce Darsheel as the youngest superhero in the world in their desi super-hero franchise
. "The producers want to market Zokkomon as
an ongoing global franchise. Walt Disney Production will begin work on another Zokkomon film with Darsheel in the lead. They would've liked nothing better than to introduce Darsheel to the international audience at the
festival in Los Angeles," says a source.
Come April 17 however, Zokkomon will be missing because his parents were not allowed to accompany him.
Darsheel's father Mitesh Safary denies this, saying Darsheel's inability to attend his first international festival is due to time constraints. "Darsheel has to promote Zokkomon in India. The LA visit would have taken at
least three days. That's why he is not going. I'm sure he will have opportunities in the future to represent his cinema abroad."
Walt Disney had also planned to get Darsheel's first producer Aamir Khan (who also acted with him in Taare Zameen Par) to introduce the wonder-kid at the LA festival. Khan will be present at the Festival to represent
Dhobi Ghat and Peepli Live.
Anupam Kher, who plays a good and evil character in Zokkomon, will be there too. Kher feels Darsheel ought to be in LA for the festival. "He plays the title role and the youngest super-hero in the world. We have
Superman, Spiderman and Batman. But they're all grown up. This superhero is targetted at kids and therefore, special.
Darsheel is such a fine actor. He gave me a tough time in front of the camera. I've no clue why Darsheel isn't coming to LA," said the veteran actor.
