Imran Khan has pledged his support for a cyclothon that will take place in Mumbai on April 24. The event will have participants from all walks of life.
The actor, who is currently shooting in Rajasthan for Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, says, "I am supporting the cause for animal welfare.
This year, the cyclothon is pledging support to my cause. I've always cared a lot about animals and take as many in as I can."
He adds, "With this event, I saw an opportunity to do something on a larger scale. I'm glad I can raise awareness and money for a cause that is so close to my heart.
With the funds they raise they are planning to set up a helpline and a shelter. You can call in about an animal that is hurt or needs help and they take care of it."
Aamir Khan's nephew plans to cycle from start-to-finish but his shoot will pose problems. "I am still trying to convince my producers to let me be in Mumbai on the day of the event.
I can cycle the entire distance. I don't need a break."
I'm fit
Cyclothons are very tough and gruelling. "That's true. But I have been physically fit. I follow a routine that allows be to be active and do various activities."
Though this will be star's first cyclothon, the actor is used to cycling for exercise when in Mumbai. "I own a cycle.
And though I have never cycled to my shoot, I usually cycle around Carter Road or Pali Hill (where he stays) itself."
