An advocate filed a case in the Allahabad High Court Monday seeking a ban on the film "Dum Maaro Dum" on account of its "obscene and indecent contents".

Advocate Ashok Pande also sought a ban of public exhibition of the song "Dum maaro Dum" of the film or to suitably modify it so that it "falls within the purview of morality and decency".

The court issued notice to the union government's Censor Board as well as producer of 'Dum Maaro Dum' on the use of "obscene language and inclusion of indecent and highly suggestive lyrics".

The petition also requested the court to stop the public exhibition of the film as it was also "found to be promoting intoxication that is punishable under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

The court issued notices to the Government of India and Censor Board and to the film producer, giving them three weeks' time to give a detailed reply.
