This week, British Indian model-turned-actress Preeti Desai may be making her Bollywood debut with Shor in the City, but she doesn't speak a single line of Hindi in the film.
Her co-star Sendil Ramamurthy (who acts in the popular US TV show Heroes) admitted, when he was in India last year to promote the immensely- forgettable Gurinder Chadha film It's A Wonderful Afterlife, he had all of 15 words of Hindi to speak in Shor in the City.
Ramamurthy plays an NRI who has come to India to explore business ventures, while Desai, plays a model who takes him around the city. The Bollywood debutantes are also in the news for their 'hot' kissing scene, but rumours are rife of Desai's supposed relationship with actor Abhay Deol.
"When you see the film you'll see how tame it is. Yes, there's a sensuous scene, but it is nothing as torrid as the stills suggest. It's normal for two people in love to show affection. I think all this is being done to build hype around the film, " clarifies Desai about the kissing scene.
The former model, who was the first non-Caucasian to become Miss Great Britain in 2006, feels the same 'hype' is responsible for her link-up with Deol. "I was warned that there would be pre-release write-ups of this nature, " she says.
