Randeep Hooda recently had a hellish time at the city's international airport. The actor was on his way to a shoot for his first-ever endorsement and that too, in Bangkok. He was not allowed to board the plane... twice!
Quick replacement
Sources reveal that due to a passport glitch, the airport authorities sent the actor back home twice in the same day. When Hooda couldn't make it to Bangkok, the automobile brand got Jimmy Sheirgill on board.
An audibly upset Randeep said, "My luggage was offloaded and I was forbidden from boarding. I was to go to Bangkok. It was a very special ad because this was my first endorsement.
I had warned the corporate house behind the ad that my passport was valid in Bangkok for only two months. They said they'd take care of it.
But when I reached the airport, I was stopped at immigration, taken to the immigration officer for quizzing and then, was not allowed to fly."
Hooda then returned home. But within hours, the company that had contracted him for the ad asked him to proceed to the airport and take another flight.
But when the actor reached the airport six hours later, it was the same story all over again.
Says Randeep, "It was quite annoying and embarrassing. I clearly told my hosts that my passport was not valid for the period required.
They, nonetheless, insisted twice that they'd have the influence to pull it off. Anyway, I am happy that the shoot didn't have to be called off."
Lost ad, gained friend
So what does he feel about his lastminute replacement? Says the actor, "Jimmy called me to ask what the problem was. When I explained what had happened he asked me if it was okay for him to do the ad. Only when I told him it was perfectly fine with it, did Jimmy fly down. So I may have lost an ad but I gained a friend."
