Shefali Shah will be seen in her most glam and bold avatar in Barnali Ray Shukla's Kuch Luv Jaisa. The actress who has been associated with art house cinema plays a homemaker who wants to break free and goes all out for it.
Not only has she worn cleavage-flaunting dresses but has shot many intimate scenes and even puffed a cigarette in the film.
Shefali who has done varied films like The Last Lear and Satya said, "I want to break the stereotypical norms that a thinking intelligent woman can't be sexy and a typical heroine need not be intelligent."
Asked about her producer-director husband Vipul Shah's reaction, she said, "Vipul is a non-interfering producer and husband. He understands my sensibilities and never questions them. It's a love story of a married couple in the initial and later part of marriage.
There is a lot of sexual tension between me and my husband's character and Rahul Bose's character, but the scenes are dealt with deftly. If my children saw the film I won't be embarrassed and I am glad that I did the film" Shefali thinks this is her most glam role till date. "I have donned a bold character in the film.
I have always gone with the demand of my character in the film and here my role required me to look sexy. She is a heroine."
She also feels that women look the best in their thirties. "I have never felt so sexy. Thirties is when women look their best.
Today I am much fitter than I have ever been in life. When you are younger you are trying to figure out what suits you and not. But with age you gain confidence and grace."
She also feels sexiness doesn't mean wearing revealing clothes or donning make-up, "Sexy is not mere make-up and skimpy clothes. It's in your mind. And I believe I am sexy." So what is the best compliment her husband paid her?
"I can't remember that, but once we were both standing in front of the mirror and he looked at both of us and said 'I think I need to lose weight, " she giggled.
