Riteish Deshmukh's youngest brother Dheeraj got engaged yesterday afternoon to Faltu producer Vashu Bhagnani's daughter and Jackky's sister Honey, at a quiet and simple ceremony at the Taj Hotel in Colaba.
Riteish shares a long-standing association with Vashu and has acted in Jackky-starrers Kal Kissne Dekha and Faltu.
Simple affair
Says an insider, "It was a quiet event. Riteish and his family have never been one for pomp and show. Hardly anyone from B-Town was invited.
In fact, when the couple gets married later this year, it will be a gala event everyone from politicians, to socialites, industrialists and people from B-Town will be invited.
The engagement itself was a simple one, attended by Riteish and his family, including father Vilasrao, mother Vaishali and eldest son Amit and close family and friends like Ramesh Taurani, attended."
While Honey wore an aqua green threaded with silver lehnga in net and chiffon with white and saturated pink dupatta in dull silver the groom-to-be Dheeraj wore a cobalt blue sherwani with self thread work, off-white breech pants and saturated pink scarf.
Both outfits complemented each other. The source adds, "The colours were subtle and not jarring. Even the decor was tasteful in keeping with the day theme and Deshmukh family's tastes - in white with white and cream flowers. The wedding is expected to take place later this year."
Familiar folk
The source says, "Vashu's daughter and the ex-CM's son have known each other for a long time now. It became serious last year and they decided to take the plunge this year. Honey is helping out dad Vashu with their home banner Puja Films as well has her own home decor and accessories store in Juhu.
The youngest Deshmukh boy is still trying to figure out what career he wants to pursue. Initially, they dated discreetly but later, were spotted together on several movies and parties and became regulars at the
nightclub Bling (Vashu is a partner).
While Dheeraj and Honey got acquainted through Riteish (had acted in Vashu's Out Of Control), the boy is also close to the Bhagnanis. So much so that when Honey went to Bangkok for the shooting for Jackky's debut movie Kal Kisne Dekha to Bangkok last year, Dheeraj accompanied them.
When Vashu had kept a bhoomi pujan for one of his upcoming properties in the city, Dheeraj was present there as well along with Vashu's children."
