Rahul Dholakia's next film with BR Films, tentatively titled Kanoon is on track. The movie is a courtroom drama set in Kolkota.
The director says, "The film, based on true facts, is not shelved. I have been doing research on the subject for more than a year.
It was put on a backburner due to Ravi Chopra's ill health. Thankfully his health is improving and we felt it is the right time to revive the movie."
The Lamhaa director is penning two more hard-hitting scripts based on real incidents. He admits that he finds it more interesting and challenging to make films on such rarely told stories.
Revealing more about his next two projects, Dholakia said, "Firozepur 1984, set in Punjab during Sikh riots, is a story of two friends, one of who is falsely framed in drug smuggling charges.
Hooch is based on the prohibition law on Liquor in Gujarat and how it leads to illicit selling, buying, and consumption of illicit liquor, " he reveals.
The National Award winning director is also livid at the false claims of Akashdeep, director and ex CEO of Sahara Motion Pictures, who recently said that Dholakia would direct portions of his next Baap Ka Maal.
He asserts, "I am not doing Akashdeep's film. He had met me and narrated the subject but I never said yes to him. I am not interested in making short films and I wasn't even too excited about the subject."
