Rajinikanth leaves for Singapore

Ailing Tamil superstar Rajinikanth left for Singapore Friday for further treatment.The 60-year-old actor is accompanied by his family members - daughters Aishwarya and Soundarya- sons-in-laws and doctor Muralidharan, sources said.

It is learnt Rajinikanth's wife Latha would leave for Singapore Saturday.

The matinee idol, who as admitted to the Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre here with fever and fluid retention following acute gastro-intestinal and respiratory problems since May 13, was discharged from the hospital Friday evening.

Thanking his fans and well wishers Rajinikanth's wife Latha in a statement issued here Friday said the actor needs complete rest and healthcare.

According to sources, Rajinikanth will be in a Singapore hospital for nearly one month.

At the Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre, Rajinikanth underwent advanced treatment including hemodialysis.

According to a hospital bulletin issued here, the actor is cheerful, taking his food himself, ambulant, spending time with family. He has scheduled his trip abroad for a change and relaxation and incidentally to go in for selective checkups.

Admitted for the third time in over three weeks, Rajinikanth was earlier admitted to St. Isabel Hospital April 29 after a bout of vomiting, and was discharged in the evening.

On May 5, he was again admitted to the ICU of St. Isabel Hospital after allergic bronchitis and fever.
