He is known as Bollywood's attention-seeker, and Ranveer Singh makes no bones about it either. However, Singh's antics at a recently-concluded awards function in Toronto made heads turn.
Apparently, the actor was all over the place, interacting only with those who could make a difference to his career, say sources. The actor, who is just one film old, was seen vying for Karan Johar's attention.
An actor who was witness to Singh's "loud behaviour" says, "Ranveer was constantly trying to create a tamasha in Toronto. He would either lunge towards people for a hug or a fall at their feet, depending on their seniority. This was done more in the spirit of exhibitionism than reverence. 'Mujhe dekh' -- that was the invisible logo on his T-shirt."
Apparently, Singh is sold on doing a film for Johar's Dharma Productions (but then, who isn't?). And, if sources are to be believed, Johar intends to cast the over-exuberant actor.
Says the witness, "In Toronto, Ranveer was trying to prove how close he is to Karan. Every time he saw Karan, he would rush and make audible statements about working together. It was quite embarrassing to be around him. A bit of subtlety would have been nice."
"Even when he was sitting in the audience while the awards ceremony was on, Singh made sure people noticed him. He was acting the part of a go-getter all through."
We tried getting Singh's version of the flamboyant opera, but the actor didn't respond to calls and SMSes.
