"'Dabangg' sequel starts mid next year and doesn't have my brother Sohail acting in it like some newspapers reported," Arbaaz posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.
According to some reports, Sohail had expressed his desire to be part of the movie and since then, his name had been considered for the sequel.
However, Arbaaz, who has been on a high ever since "Dabangg" -- his debut production -- turned out to be a blockbuster, will now take the reins as the director for the sequel of the masala action movie.
"Dabangg", directed by Abhinav Singh Kashyap, was set in the dusty, rugged, rural milieu of Uttar Pradesh in which Salman played a corrupt cop called Chulbul Pandey.
