Shekhar Kapoor may have declined to direct Mr India 2, but Boney Kapoor is on a roll. Kapoor, who as head of entertainment content at Sahara is going to produce Mr India 2, has not only got actors from the original film, Anil Kapoor and Sridevi to revive their iconic characters, he has roped in AR Rahman too.
The music director in fact, has kept away from Bollywood music for the last two years, except for completing an old commitment (Imtiaz Ali's Rock Star). He has been busy traveling abroad for international assignments.
The reason why Rahman agreed to the film was the challenge of composing songs at par with those from the original. Songs from the 1987 film were composed by legendary duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal.
"I've never worked with Rahman before. It's a huge challenge for him. Laxmikant-Pyarelal's songs like Kate nahin kat te, Hawa Hawaii and Karte hain hum pyar are popular to this day. I'm sure Rahman will give a new spin to the music, " Kapoor said.
