Shahid Kapoor, sources say, is currently toying with the idea of playing Chhota Rajan in Milan Luthria's Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2. There is one major hurdle to be crossed, though.
No, we're not talking about the preparation for the role, or the controversies that may erupt. We're referring to the star's mindset his fear of sharing screen space with another leading man!
Says a source, "Deewane Huye Paagal (2005) was a nightmare experience for Shahid. What started off as a two-hero Akshay Kumar-Shahid project, finally ended up being a one-hero film on the editing table.
Large portions of Shahid's role were removed. From then on, Shahid promised he'd do only solo-hero films, and right from Vivaah to Jab We Met, Kaminey to Mausam, he has stuck to his guns."
The only exception has been Ahmed Khan's Fool N Final, obviously because he trusted his buddy to be fair with his performance.
Now, with this role being offered to him in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2, Shahid has been compelled to rethink his solo stance.
Weighing the options
When asked if he has signed on for the role, Shahid said, "It's not final yet. I'm considering it." Sources say he is quite confident Luthria would do justice to his presence in his film.
The director has already done several two-hero films with Ajay Devgn and Saif Ali Khan in Kachche Dhaage, Nana Patekar and John Abraham in Taxi 9211, and Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai without any problems with any of the actors.
So, we're guessing, Shahid may put his fear of not flying solo to rest, finally!
