"It would be unfair to club Sheesha with a film like Julie. The character does require Neha to expose her anatomy. But Neha knows where to draw the line, and so do we. Once that was clarified at the very outset, there were no hiccups while filming those sequences. Moreover, there is much more to the film than those hot scenes," insists the director.
According to him, sex has just been used as a garnish to attract the viewers' attention. But once you watch the film, you'll realize that there's a gripping story as well. It's an intense film all the way.
Shot entirely in Bangkok and Pattaya in a 42-day schedule, the movie is a story of passion, desire, obsession and possessiveness and stars Neha Dhupia and Sonu Sood. Sonu is a modern day hunk and technical director of a Channel in Thailand.
The film explores what happens when truth surfaces. It is a time when relationship, values, culture and everything that society stands for is tested to the hilt.
Ashu also denies the allegations of plagiarism and states, "I've derived the inspiration from a real-life incident that I was a witness to. Of course, as a storyteller, you've got to make certain cinematic changes, but the essence remains that particular incident."
The director defends his decision to rope in Sonu in a lead role by saying he needed someone to play his role without any baggage of an image attached to him.
We'll have to wait till 28th January to find out if this ‘Sheesha' lies or not.
