After all the hype surrounding the music of Yaadein, the verdict is finally out. A good album on the whole from the Mukta Arts stables, with a couple of songs standing out and making you want to listen to them again and again. Way to go My Malik!!!!!
Yaadein Yaad Aati Hain sung superbly by Hariharan sets the tone for the entire album. The lyrics are nothing short of brilliant here and Hariharan`s singing along with the music leave you craving for more. If not for anything else, Yaadein is a must buy for this song alone. It is repeated in the voices of Sunidhi Chauhan and Mahalaxmi Iyer who are very good. But it is Hariharan`s version, which is the pick. His other solo Kuchh Saal Pehle is in complete contrast to this in terms of music and Hari`s style of singing. It is a complete love story told in a single song. Good number this too.
The next track Jub Dil Miley makes you want to get up and start dancing. With a somewhat gypsy like tune and rhythm Asha Bhosle, Udit Narayan, Sukhwinder Singh and Sunidhi Chauhan are clearly in their element here. Chamakti Shaam Hai reminds one of "Choli Ke Peeche" from Khalnayak especially the Cham Cham Cham....part of it. However it is a catchy number sung with aplomb by Sonu Nigam and Alka Yagnik.
Eli Re Eli is like a dialogue between the 3 sisters of Yaadein. Kavita K, Alka Yagnik and Hema Sardesaai convey the feelings of the song with a lot of feeling and ease and are ably supported by Udit Narayan. Anu Malik is one of the few music directors who likes to work with newcomers and puts enough faith in them. In Aye Dil - Dil Ki Duniya Mein he has Sneha Pant singing wonderfully with KK. From sad to passionate to anger, the song takes you through various levels. Chanda Taare is also a song that is full of passion and gives Sukhwinder Singh and Kavita K ample opportunity to display the talent and vocal skills. Finally there is the instrumental Theme Music which is one of the best compositions heard in recent times. It is sure to be with you even after you have heard it again and again.
Another sure shot hit from Anu Malik and the irrepressible showman Subhash Ghai. Go buy it
