DJ Jenny D plays her own characer in the film and her Facebook campaigns supporting Aarakshan for Women and the Fight the Casting Couch campaign feature in the movie. This Hindi film is directed by R S Nath from Delhi and produced Kamal Uday Singh, a well-known Bhojpuri film producer.
According to the publicist for the film, "About 10 per cent of the film has already been shot and shooting will be continued in the coming weeks. The film is being shot at 2-3 locations in India, besides Mumbai and has a decent budget of Rs 2.8 crore."
According to producer Kamal Uday Singh, "I was inspired by the struggle of Anna Hazare and others who managed to inspire millions of Indians to join the peaceful and non-violent struggle. I already had a script ready on Anna Hazare's anti-corruption movement and the exploitation of women.
We decided to shoot in the first week of August and have already finished a smal schedule. Shooting for the film will resume after the Ganpati festival in Mumbai."
Singh admits that the film is based on the struggle of Anna Hazare but features a woman (DJ Jenny D) as the leader of the struggle instead of a male character. It is a woman-oriented film and three of the leading characters are female.
"It is the story of the fight against corruption, a corrupt system and the exploitation that feeds this corrupt system. I was very impressed with DJ Jenny D's single-handed campaign against the Casting Couch and decided to incorporate her into the film, " says Singh.
