You've been keeping a low profile these days...
I've been busy shooting for Zilla Ghaziabad. It's an interesting film, where I play a gangster who starts off as a teacher.
He returns to his village to improve the quality of life there, but soon becomes a gangster after realising it is the only way to clean such a society.
Preparations for the Krrish sequel have also begun. It's the biggest movie in my career so far.
What prompted you to take up Zilla Ghaziabad? Director Anand Kumar isn't exactly a known name...
It was Arshad Warsi who told me that he had a script with a relatively unknown director, and that he was acting in it too, though they didn't have any producer then.
When I read the script, I knew instantly I wanted to play the infamous Satbir Gujjar, the most educated gangster in the history of India. He was loved by the public and feared by the oppressors.
Moving to Krrish buzz is your character is confined to a wheelchair in the first half, but does lots of action in the latter part...
Well, it's designed to generate curiosity. All I can say for now is that he's like a crazy, comic book villain. When Rakeshji (Roshan) narrated the role to me, he told me he had written this character with me in mind. I wanted to do cartwheels right there and then!
But there were reports of Salman, Shah Rukh and even Ajay Devgn being approached for this role...
I don't know about the reports. When I read the script, I felt it was written for me. Rakeshji and Hrithik also said the same thing.
I've too much love and respect for them to think it's not true. As far as everyone else is concerned, without sounding cheeky, I'm happy I'm doing it.
On the personal front, you'll soon be completing a year of marriage. How's married life treating you?
When Priyanka is not in town, everyone around feels I become insufferable. My team tells her that I become chidchida when she's not around. I always thought that I'd be an eternal bachelor, but I was wrong.
Your family must be eagerly waiting to see little children running about the house...
I'm crazy about kids, so I'm looking forward to it as and when it happens.
