"I'm glad the first promo has been well received. The second promo will be out around Diwali because that's another festive occasion when we'll get eyeballs because people have the time to watch movies and TV.
"I can promise the promo will be much longer than the first one, with more dialogue, action and drama, giving the audience a better feel of each character and a hint of the story, " Karan said in a statement.
A source close to Karan revealed that the promo received over 650, 000 hits on YouTube within 48 hours.
"I'm always hoping for the best and preparing for the worst. We had shown the teaser to a cross-section before releasing it. The reactions made us somewhat confident that it would arouse initial interest. Fortunately it did, " said Karan.
Karan's "Agneepath" is a tribute to his father filmmaker Yash Johar's 1990 cult film by the same name. The film tanked at the box-office but fetched megastar Amitabh Bachchan the national award for his performance.
Directed by debutant director Karan Malhotra, the action-drama will release Jan 13, 2012. It has Hrithik Roshan essaying the iconic character Vijay Deenanath Chauhan and Sanjay Dutt in the role of Kancha Cheena.
Karan maintains that the idea behind bringing out the first promo, five months before the film's release, was to highlight the fact that there is nothing in common between this film and the original, except the names of the protagonist and antagonist - Vijay Dinanath Chauhan and Kancha Cheena.
"Mukul Anand's (director of original) and Karan Malhotra's worlds are diagonally different. Karan has worked hard to make Agneepath a completely different film and it's evident in the promos, " he said.
Karan also points out that "Agneepath" (1990) with Amitabh Bachchan was the last time his production house, Dharma Productions, churned out an action movie. "It's such a coincidence that we are re-venturing into the genre with a film with same name, " he said.
Rishi Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra also play pivotal roles in the film.
