He is making his directorial debut with a Karan Johar production, "Kaal", but Soham Shah insists he got
complete creative freedom while making the film.
"I couldn't have had more creative freedom than this in any other film. Karan is a wonderful producer who allows
you to have your creative say and translate your ideas on screen exactly as you visualise them," tells
Shah.
"His profound knowledge of filmmaking only makes the communication process easier. In fact, working with
Johar is probably the best debut anyone can have for direction," says Shah, who had last worked as an
assistant with Johar in "Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham".
The song-less thriller shot extensively at the Jim Corbett Park in Uttaranchal and Bangkok has been the
subject of curiosity ever since it was announced.
According to Shah, he was extra particular from the beginning about the film being a song-less one.
"The songs will be shot as music videos and will form part of the pre-release promotional strategy. There is no
question of adding them to the film. In fact, I was particular about this aspect right from the outset because I
did not want the edge-of-the-seat excitement in the film to be disturbed by any song," Soham reveals.
The film stars Ajay Devgan, Vivek Oberoi, John Abraham, Lara Dutta and Esha Deol.
The racy title track with on Shah Rukh and Malaika (in guest appearances) in the otherwise song-less thriller is
expected to be a rage among the audiences.
"It will be the introductory song in the film when the credits unfold and is already a hot favourite with the entire
unit. It was Karan and Shah Rukh who came up with the brilliant idea," Shah said adding that Farah Khan's
choreography in the song was something to watch out for.
Shah is now looking forward to the completion of the film and the D-day when the audiences announce their
verdict at the box-office. "I am not worried about that since both I and Karan have tremendous confidence in the
film," he says.
