The Malayalam hit is being remade in Hindi with Sunny Deol, Nana Patekar, Manoj Bajpayee, Irrfan Khan

If the success of films like Ready, Singham, Bodyguard is any indication, it seems Bollywood has found a formula.

Little wonder then that Endemol, the company that produces reality shows like Bigg Boss, is also taking to this trend.

They've acquired the rights of the Malayalam hit, Traffic, to be made in Hindi with Sunny Deol, Nana Patekar, Paresh Rawal, Prakash Raj, Manoj Bajpayee, Irfan Khan, Jimmy Sheirgill, Vinay Pathak and Rajat Barmecha.

And just like Salman Khan's Bodyguard was helmed by Siddique, who made the original Malayam hit, Traffic to will be remade by the director of the Malayali original, Rajesh Pillai.

Interestingly, other corporate houses like UTV Motion Pictures and Balaji Motion Pictures too were keen on buying the rights for a Hindi remake.

Deepak Dhar of Endemol, which acquired the rights, says, "Traffic is an emotional roller-coaster ride. Traffic was the best title for us to begin our foray into movies."

Talking about the cast, he explained, "We wanted a very diverse cast as it's a story of different characters from different walks of life coming together in this journey. So this kind of cast was the key, more from characters' point of view."

Keeping in mind the Hindi audience, the screenplay is being altered by director Rajesh Pillai.

Dhar further elaborates that the Hindi adaptation is a lot more contemporary, day-to-day life. Declining to reveal more, all he's willing to say for now is: "We're still beginning our journey.

The shoot should start next month and we're planning to release it mid next year. We'll reveal more later. But yes, it will be shot in India as the route plays a very important part in the storyline."
