A local court on Tuesday rejected bail plea of Kannada actor Darshan, who has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife
Vijayalakshmi and child.
City Civil and Session Court judge B R Budihal rejected his bail even as the actor's wife Vijayalakshmi told the court that she is
ready for reconciliation.
Earlier on Sept 13, the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court denied him bail. However, Judge Venkatesh
Hulagi had said the actor can seek bail in sessions court.
Darshan was arrested by Vijayanagara police on Sept 9 after his wife Vijayalakshmi filed a complaint accusing him of torturing
her and her child.
She said Darshan burnt her face with cigarettes, hit her with slippers, bit her ears in fits of rage and threatened to kill her
keeping her at gunpoint.
However, later she took back her complaint saying her injuries were due to a slip at the bathroom.
But she could not stop the police from taking Darshan into custody as her First Information Report (FIR) was already registered
by then.
The Sandalwood actor was booked under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 498A (husband or
relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section
27 of the arms act.
The actor has got himself admitted to a hospital saying he is suffering from uneasiness, physical strain, acidity, asthma and
initial stages of jaundice.
