Megastar Amitabh Bachchan is fascinated with the hi-tech devices and treatments available for the eye, but he likes his uber cool frames the best because they have "more character".

The 69-year-old likes experimenting with different eyewear - on screen as well as off screen.

He tweeted: "Went for routine eye check up, learnt they have device to surgically put a multifocus lens inside your eye, so you never need glasses.

Very rapid technical advances in the field or opthalmic devices... every three months something new makes other equipment obsolete!

"Hey now! Do not jump to conclusions that I am going for laser technology... NOPE! I love my framed lenses... more character!"

He sported a bespectacled look in films like "Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna" and "Rann".
