The only Bollywood connect to the Malayalam film Adaminte Makan Abu (Abu, Son of Adam), which is India's official entry for the Oscars, is Zarina Wahab.
The actress plays the role of the wife of the protagonist Abu (Salim Kumar) in the movie that narrates the saga about his last wish in life the Haj pilgrimage.
Directed by debutant Salim Ahamed, it has Abu at the verge of fulfilling his desire till he fears that the means is not fully legitimate.
Zarina, who is currently in Dubai on a shopping holiday, says, "I am elated. I heard about it just before I left. In fact, I was in Kerala when the official announcement was made.
The director immediately informed me. We did our own bit of rejoicing."
No decision has yet been made about their trip to the Oscar ceremony. "Yes, I would definitely want to walk on the hallowed red carpet. I think I have finally got my due after all these years."
Released in June, the film has already bagged four National Awards and has also reaped several honours at the Kerala film awards.

Of late, the actress has been seen in mother's roles on the big screen.
She plays maa to Hrithik Roshan in the Agneepath remake as well John Abraham's amma in Kapil Sharma's yet untitled film besides Vivek Oberoi's mommy in Zilla Ghaziabad.
