Much like how Hema Malini was launched as the 'Dream Girl' in 1977 for her film with the same name, preparations are now underway to promote her younger daughter Ahana Deol before her 2012 debut.
She will not be seen in any promotional activities of her mother's soon-to-be-released directorial venture, Tell Me O Kkhuda, which will also star sister Esha Deol. Earlier, the entire family -- Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Esha and Ahana -- were supposed to promote the film together.
As one source put it, "Ahana is the shyest member of the Deol family. She had, however, decided to pitch in for her sister. But now with her Bollywood debut crystallising, she will be kept away from public platforms until she is ready for her debut."
According to another source, Dharmendra, who was earlier opposed to the idea of Ahana becoming an actress, has decided that if she has to join the film industry, she must get the best possible promotion.
The source said, "This means, no public appearances for Ahana until she is unveiled the way Hema Malini was many decades ago during the whole 'Dream Girl' campaign."
The source also added that Dharmendra and Hema Malini feel that Esha's career hasn't taken off because her launched wasn't planned well.
When contacted, Hema Malini confirmed that Ahana would not participate in the promotions of Tell Me O Kkhuda. "Yes, we've decided to keep her out of it. Ahana will soon have her own career and we don't want her to put her in the public eye. It's very important to keep the careers and personalities of the two sisters apart."
In 2012, Ahana is to star in an untitled film that will be directed by Shoojit Sircar.
