"Parineeta - The Married Woman," the latest film by renowned film director Vidhu Vinod Chopra, promises
dazzling shots of tea-laden hills of Darjeeling, along with the hectic hustle-bustle of Kolkata.
The film based on a novel written by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyaya, one of the leading lights of Bengali
literature, is scheduled to release here April 2005.
Starring Sunjay Dutt, Saif Ali Khan, Raima Sen, and new find Vidya Balan, the intense love saga explores the
difference between a man and woman's perception of love and commitment.
Vidya Balan, who can bee seen in many commericials is making her big silver screen screen debut with this
film. where she plays the title role of Parineeta in the film.
The other lady in the film is Raima Sen . Raima plays the character of Koyel who is in love with Sanjay Dutt.
Koyel's character from the original novel has been altered and extended to make it more significant for the film. Raima has earlier worked with Pradip Sarkar in a commercial.
According to filmmakers, the film had been shot on a hectic 50-day shoot, and is now almost
complete.
The film also contains shots of the famed toy train that was earlier used in the song legend "Mere Sapno Ki
Rani" in Aradhana, starring Sharmila Tagore, Khan's mother.
The film has music by Shantanu Moitra and lyrics by Swanand Kirkire.
