Apparently, RGV wants the actor to re-shoot a portion of 'Department' that was badly filmed

Ram Gopal Varma is having a tough time getting extra dates from Sanjay Dutt for Department. Reason? Scenes filmed at an Irani restaurant were found not shot in the required light.

An insider states that when the crew checked the footage they were shocked.

"The result was barely visible, because the scenes had been shot in low light, " informs a source, adding that it was a goof-up on the part of the cinematographer, Sapan Narula of FX School. The same camera team shot Ramu's Not A Love Story.

"Sanjay's scenes were shot in low light. And if that wasn't bad enough, Sapan didn't check after the take. It was only after a couple of days it was realised that the shots were too dark to use in the movie, " says the source.

Needless to say, the actor was upset. And even more upset was the director, who sacked Sapan and hired a new team."

The replacements have learnt from their predecessor's mistakes. Our source tells us that now they check for the footage after every shot.

Dharam Oberoi, Sanjay's business manager and also the producer of the film, said that they're not re-shooting the scenes.

However, he conceded, "A couple of intermediate shots are required to be filmed. Everything is going fine and no one has been sacked."

Although he suggested to check with RGV, Oberoi called back to say that he had spoken to the director. "I'm told there's no re-shooting happening, " he reiterated.

However, our source states, "The Irani cafe portions are scheduled to be shot next week."
