Salman Khan, without his shirt, makes news. But this time, it was his three kurtas that Dubai was talking
about.
At a charity dinner here, the kurtas that Khan wore in the film "Mujhse Shaadi Karogi" were auctioned for about
$2,700. The money would be contributed towards tsunami relief in India.
The dinner, organised with the support of the Global Indian Film Awards, was attended by Bollywood celebrities
and socialites from Dubai.
The total collection of almost $61,000 would have been impossible, but for actor Shakti Kapoor who, prodded
by Perizaad Zorabian, took the stage and encouraged the gathering to contribute to tsunami relief.
Shahrukh Khan's kurta from "Main Hoon Na" went for about $8100. Sushmita Sen's black and red sari from the
same film, and Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor's saris from "Aitraaz" were auctioned for about $6800
each.
A sari that Aishwarya Rai wore in "Devdas" found a buyer at about $4600.
The event showcased clothes designed by Vikram Phadnis, Neeta Lulla, Manish Malhotra and others.
Among the Bollywood celebrities present were Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Ria Sen and
Mallaika Arora and her husband Arbaaz Khan.
