/> Ever since he scored with brilliant resonance in Mani Ratnam's Dil Se, A R Rahman has nursed a soft corner for Shah Rukh Khan who has been, for the longest time, most keen to get the Mozart Of Madras to score for a Red Chillies production.

They came close to working together in Farah Khan's Om Shanti On. But the Rahman-SRK collaboration fell through due to royalty and copyright issues.

Finally Rahman has teamed up with Shah Rukh in a most unexpected way, all thanks to Rajnikanth whom no one says no to.

Rahman has scored music in Ra.One albeit for just one sequence, but a vital sequence. When Rajnikanth came into the cameo space for Ra.One it was felt that the very special guest-star ‘s screen-presence needed to be extraordinarily uplifting through an extra-special background music.

Says a source, "It was the film's highlight. The coming together of Rajnikanth and Shah Rukh needed a very special musical treatment. And eventhough Shah Rukh is thrilled to bits with Vishal-Shekhar's music and songs in Ra.One Shah Rukh excitedly suggested that Rahman be invited to score music for the sequence featuring Rajnikanth. "

Apparently the whole Ra.One team, including Vishal-Shekhar approved wholeheartedly of Shah Rukh's impulsive plan to bring Rahman into the picture.

Says the source, "After Amitabh Bachchan and Rajnikanth everyone felt Rahman's presence would be another step ahead for Ra.One. "

It was left to Shah Rukh to connect with Rahman with the invitation.

Says the source, "On hearing of the scene with Rajnikanth, Rahman immediately agreed to do the needful. He dropped all his commitments abroad and returned to his studio in Chennai to do the needful.

We're sooooooooo proud of the fact that we've got the three ‘R' legends Rajnikanth, Rahman and Resul Pookutty, two of them Oscar winners and beyond any Oscar, in one scene. "

Shah Rukh, Rahman and director Anubhav Sinha remained unavailable for comment.
