Constant comparisons and talk of rivalry with female colleagues has prompted actress Sonakshi Sinha to say no to all multi-starrers.
Not only has she opted out of Race 2, Vikramaditya Motwane's second film Lootera, which was to have an ensemble cast, with at least three actresses in the mix of things, will now only star Sinha in the lead.
According to a source, while the script of the film had three actresses, it has been tweaked to suit Sinha's wish.
He said, "There was talk of casting three heroines together with apart from Ranveer Singh and Ronit Roy." He added that while initially even Roy's character had a love interest, it's now been done away with. Singh will be paired opposite Sinha in the film.
Sinha is reportedly uncomfortable about the constant talk of her squabbles with other actresses. The source said, "Right from the start she's been pitted against one actress or the other.
In Dabangg, there was supposed to be friction between Malaika Arora and her. Then she was supposed to have got into a scrap with Katrina Kaif.
And later, she is supposed to have asked for an item number in Joker because Chitrangda had one."
When contacted, an exasperated Sinha said, "There was no battle between us (in Joker). Chitrangda is doing an item song that's a performance that Akshay and I are watching in the scene. Why was that turned into a battle?"
Not surprisingly, all her forthcoming films are solo shows. Joker, Rowdy Rathore, Son Of Sardar, Dabangg 2 and Kick, star Sinha alone.
However, Sinha denies that she opted out of Race 2 because it was a multi-starrer.
"I had no choice but to opt out. The dates for Race 2 were pushed forward, and I had committed to Dabangg 2."
When Madhu Mantena, producer of the Motwane-directed film, was contacted, he said, "Sonakshi is in an enviable position today. With just one release she has acquired superstar status.
With her around, the glam quotient is sufficiently fulfilled. We didn't have to think about casting another girl."
