Nana Patekar begins shooting for the sequel to his 2004 flick, Ab Tak Chhappan, early next year. The fiery actor has now decided to direct the movie himself.
But he doesn't mind that Sahil Saple, a former assistant of Ram Gopal Varma, who is directing the film being credited for it! The project was announced with Saple as director. Shimit Amin directed the first part which was produced by Varma.
A source reveals that the idea was suggested by Nana himself when they discussed the sequel. "Nana told Ramu that he had differences with Shimit during the making of Ab Tak Chhappan. He didn't want to work in a similar situation again, where he constantly has differences, " reveals the source.
"Nana said that he would direct it himself with Ramu's proteges assisting him. Further, he also stated that he had no issues if he wasn't credited as the sequel's director."
Considering that Nana himself has earned acclaim as a director with his only venture, Prahaan, it comes as a surprise to hear that he wouldn't mind letting Varma's protege get the credit.
The source maintains, "If Nana wants it that way, Ramu is not the one to argue why not. As long as they're happy with the way the film shapes up, the name in the credit doesn't matter."
Incidentally Shimit had differences with Shah Rukh Khan and Aditya Chopra too during Chak De! India. Nana, too is known for his tiffs with directors.
Aditya apparently reshot some portions himself because he wasn't too pleased with the way Shimit had shot some scenes. However, Ram Gopal Varma maintains that the film is being directed by Sahil Saple.
