UTV Motion Pictures has locked July 13 as the worldwide release date for Anurag Basu's much-awaited "Barfi!", starring Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Telugu star Ileana D'Cruz.

"Barfi!" narrates the story of a young, cute but shrewd man whom girls adore. He is deaf and dumb, and like a "Chalu Chaplin", a press statement from the production company said.

Priyanka plays an autistic girl in the film, while Ileana, on her Bollywood debut, features as a translator and her character spans about 50 years.

Earlier, Ranbir said that though the subject of the film is sensitive, the film is not serious.

"The treatment to the character and film is not serious at all. It is a romantic-comedy which has been set in 1970s. My character is very fun-loving (awaara types), " Ranbir had told.
