Director Rajkumar Santoshi is yet to begin his next movie, and it seems to have already run into trouble.
Reason being that two financiers behind the rom-com, that might feature Abhay Deol and Sonam Kapoor, are said to be in a legal tussle.
And both of them are now claiming to produce the movie in association with the National Award winning director. Buzz is that Santoshi has struck deals with two financiers, Raju Shah and Dhanraj Seth.
Pointing out that this is not the first time the filmmaker has committed a project to more than one person, a source from the industry says, "After Ladies And Gentleman was put on hold last year following Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's pregnancy, Santoshi has been working on another romantic comedy.
He's got a nod from both Abhay and Sonam for the movie, but the paperwork was scheduled to be completed after he's got proper finance and a producer on board."
However, it seems the director got not one, but two financiers for the film. "Strangely, each one has been led to believe that he's backing the movie. And when they learnt of the other financier also claiming to be associated with Rajji's rom-com, both threw a fit, " revealed our source.
While the filmmaker was unavailable for comment, Raju Shah said that they're still planning the film. Denying the tussle with Dhanraj Seth, he clarified, "I'm not aware of this and I've nothing to do with it. If there was a dispute, why would I plan a movie with Santoshi? "
Further, the financier states that since Santoshi is also looking to produce the movie, he can talk to as many people as he wants.
"In the end, he'll do the film only with the person with whom he can work out the best deal. Anything can happen in the industry, and a filmmaker is free to deal with more than one person as long as everything is sorted at the onset, " he maintained.
