Indian actor detained in Dubai for possessing drugs

Actor Vijay Raaz, known for his roles in movies like national award winning 'Raghu Romeo' and Meera Nair's 'Monsoon Wedding', was detained by the Dubai police.

Director Vikram Bhatt, who accompanied Raaz, tells the leading news agency from Dubai that the actor was detained at the airport on the morning of February 13, the day he landed there.

"He has been incommunicado since then and we have no knowledge on why he was detained," Bhatt said while adding that Raaz had arrived in Dubai for shooting of the film 'Diwaane Hue Paagal', directed by Bhatt.

Raaz has also acted in films like 'Praarambh' and 'Jungle'.

He said that the unit was in Dubai for last six days and Raaz was expected to join them on the day he was detained.

Bhatt's previous film 'Elaan', starring Mithun Chakraborty, Arjun Rampal, John Abraham and Rahul Khanna was commercially released recently.
