Raveena turns Page 3

Raveena turns Page 3

Sporting a perfect bob, actor Raveena Tandon looks chic from head to toe. The lady's been working round the clock for the past four months on a film where she's playing a novelist in the backdrop of Mumbai's high society.

The actor, who in real life has seen the Page 3 culture grow and is spotted at a few events, talks to CS about this phenomenon:

In the spotlight
Honestly, I am quite anti-social. I have never been a party-hopper in the true sense of the term. My idea of partying is a quiet dinner with a bunch of close friends. And, I don't agree with the fact that Page 3 people are fake. Socialities invite their group of friends and so it is natural to spot the same set of people at every do. Don't buddies stick together? In fact, I have seen the Page 3 culture grow before my eyes. It has put a lot of pressure on celebrities. We have to dress well before stepping out of our house. You never know where you'll be clicked.

The dull moments
I do hate the pressure of having to look good at all times. Also, the fact that photographers take pictures from the worst possible angles is a turn off. Previously, shutterbugs used to make us look even more beautiful than what we really look like. Now, it's the reverse. I remember going to an event wearing a dress. Some of the photographers there were taking shots from ground level while I was seated when they could have easily asked me to pose for standing shots. That irritated me no end. But I will admit that all of us need our friends from the press and electronic media when a film is releasing. And if you have called the media for an event, you have no right to complain.

Fashionista rankings
Earlier, there was a difference between a SoBo party and a Bandra one. There was a time when the South Bombay gentry used to look down on Hindi films, Bollywood actors and the general Hindi speaking party-goers. But that scene's changed. Nowadays, even the snootiest socialite can't help but shake a leg when a Bollywood number is on. And a party has that extra zing when a B-town actor is present.

Amongst the swish set, I like Parmeshwar Godrej, Gauri Khan, Queenie Singh and Nita Ambani. Parmeshwar is very unique in her fashion sense while Gauri is perfectly turned out 99.99 per cent of the time. Queenie, we all know, is haute couture. And I really love the manner in which Nita wears her saris and salwar kameezes to parties. She has a fabulous collection and flaunts it with dignity and style!
