Genelia, your character in Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya has similarities with Geet played by Kareena Kapoor in Jab We Met (2007). What will you say to that?
Genelia: I have always been known for playing bubbly roles. In Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya also, I play Mini who is extremely bubbly and energetic...and more than anything she is too adventurous and a big brat. Geet wasn't a big brat. She was an innocent, sweet girl.
Was it a planned thing that Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya will be released after your marriage to ensure Box Office success?
Riteish: Nothing was planned. It was a mere coincidence that the film released after our marriage.
How was it working together after so many years (after Tujhe Meri Kasam in 2003 and Masti in 2004)?
Riteish: The two of us debut together, face the camera together and we were newcomers and we were learning about how films are made, camera action, costumes and every bit of filmmaking...the entire process together. And later, she went on doing 20-25 films in various languages; I did about 20-25 films, and again to act with her is an absolute pleasure because it's always a better experience for you when you act with a better actor than you are.
Genelia: That's rubbish (reacts to 'better actor' comment)! It was great fun working with Riteish, not because I knew him personally, but because he is a great actor. In fact, he is not just a great actor, but the most selfless actor...not a selfish actor...that's what makes all the difference when you are working together.
When you are going for your honeymoon?
Riteish: We (me and Genelia) have been very busy promoting Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya and asking people to go and watch the film...we have made a good movie. But thankfully, since we were promoting a film together, we got to spend more time with each other. We got a chance to promote a film together after seven-eight years. We had low times for ourselves. But so far so good. We are really enjoying ourselves.
From your debut together in Tujhe Meri Kasam (2003) to Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya, which one will you now vote as your favourite film?
Riteish: I married the girl in Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya, whom I first met and started dating during Tujhe Meri Kasam.
Who proposed to whom?
Riteish: That you will never know.
Genelia: That no one will ever know.
Riteish: But yes, on Zee TV's Dance India Dance show, I told her: Ab jab shaadi ho hi gayi hai, toh bol hi deta hoon-Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya Genelia.
How different is your married life from your days as singles?
Genelia: I don't know what people are thinking about us. But I don't think anything changed...
Riteish: ...apart from the fact that we are now living in the same house.
Genelia: Also now I am no longer D'Souza but Deshmukh.
Riteish, tell us one thing about Genelia's lifestyle that you find funny.
Riteish: She drinks green tea more than water. The amount of green tea Genelia drinks every day will suffice me to bath in them for four days.
