Aamir, who turned 47 Wednesday, is hosting and producing a show bringing real life stories on the small screen for Star Plus.
"Right now my life revolves around the show. My team and me are trying to do something different. I have been working on this show for last two years. This is my life's ambitious project," Aamir said.
"I am very excited about my television debut. Usually today's day (birthday) I usually spend with my family, but today I will be leaving for the shooting of my television show," he added.
Talking about "Talaash", he said: "'Talaash' is very close to my heart. Earlier, we were trying to release it in January. Then we announced it for June. Now, the date has been pushed to either Nov 30 or Dec 7. I am sorry for this, I know my fans are waiting for 'Talaash'," the actor told reporters on the sidelines of his birthday celebrations.
Written and directed by Reema Kagti, "Talaash" is said to be a psychological thriller and Aamir is co-producing it with Excel Entertainment. Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor are playing female leads in it.
Disclosing further details behind the delay, he added: "Reason behind this is the show I was doing. The set caught fire and the entire set was destroyed. So, the show got delayed a bit. So, I am focusing on the show, which is impacting the release date of 'Talaash'.
"Both are very close to me. I can't give justice to both at the same time. So, I discussed with Reema and we decided to push the release date of the film."
