While rumours suggest that the director will skip working on the 'Tanu Weds Manu' sequel, he maintains he is very much on
the project
Buzz is that director Anand Rai has chosen to work on his current film with Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor for the timebeing, and
now may not have too much time to concentrate on the sequel of Tanu Weds Manu.
Especially because, the announcement of the film apparently has come a little too earlier than he expected. than direct the
sequel.
Says a source, "Rai was contemplating the sequel a while back, but then the Dhanush film came along. The announcement of the
sequel came at the same time as well. So at the moment he will be working on Ranjhna."
Apparently, the director was once even contemplating giving up the sequel all together to concentrate on newer projects.
Adds the source, "The sequel was just an idea and Rai was toying with many other projects at the time. So he did not want to
repeat himself, by directing a sequel immediately.
At the moment, he gets the time to space things out." However, Rai says that the script is very close to his heart and he is still
very much on board for the film.
He clarifies, "I love Tanu weds Manu and the new script is brilliant. It takes the story to another level. The announcement of the
sequel came along a little sooner than it should have.
We were not really prepared and now I have decided to go with the Dhanush starrer first. Once I am done with this, I shall start
work on the sequel. It may be sometime early next year. The dates are yet to be decided."
