Anup Soni takes viewers on a journey of gruesome and mind-boggling real life crimes as the host of "Crime Patrol Dastak", and his association with the popular TV show instils a sense of responsibility within him, says the actor.

"While I am shooting for the show, I am just another responsible citizen of the country and not an actor. And this not just a crime show, it makes people aware and that is the reason it is so popular, " said Anup.

The actor, an alumnus of the National School of Drama, was here Thursday to celebrate the completion of 100 episodes of the bi- weekly Sony Entertainment Television show.

"Crime Patrol Dastak" picks crime cases and brings them to the viewers by reconstructing the crime scene with actors.

It puts the spotlight on cases related to domestic violence, teenage infatuation and obsession, extra marital affairs, dowry demands and blind faith in superstitions.

The show has so far shown some popular cases like those of baby Falak, Neeraj Grover murder as well as Mumbai's eve-teasing case in which Reuben Fernandes and Keenan Santos were killed.

Anup, who is also known for shows "Balika Vadhu" and "Comedy Circus", plays the narrator in each episode.

Also present at the celebration event were producer Vipul Shah of Optimystix, Subramanian S. Iyer, the creator, writer and series director as well as the creative director, Neeraj Malik.

Shah says the show can help in making viewers more wary of crimes and aware of the psyche of criminals.

"I am happy that viewers have liked our show and today we celebrating 100 episodes. I hope the show continues like this.

"The basic aim behind the show is to look at the 'why' behind every crime. More than showing the reconstruction of events, we try to look into what was there in the mind of the person who committed the crime, " said Shah.

"Crime Patrol Dastak" is the fourth season of "Crime Patrol", which first went on air way back in May 2003. It was then hosted by actor Diwakar Pundir, who was later replaced by Shakti Anand.

The second season went on air in January 2010, and was presented by Anup and actress Saakshi Tanwar.
