If there was one dance actor Neetu Chandra would have loved to perform, it would be Vijayanthimala's Hothon Pe Aisi Baat.

The actor who's trained in Kathak speaks to CS about her love for dance and more.

Love to dance
I come from a musical background. My mother's a double MA in Music and my cousin has trained under Pandit Birju Maharaj. So, I've grown up in an artistic environment.

I have observed dance since childhood, it was something I liked and picked up. I learnt Kathak for four years. I find dance and music meditative and relaxing. I just love to dance.

From Kathak to Bollywood
I feel that if you're a trained dancer, then you can pick up any form of dance very easily. Classical dance helps you build a strong base. I think it's very important for actors today to learn some form of dancing as our Indian films are full of dances.

Dancing to their tune
There are a lot of choreographers I have worked with, and it's difficult to pick out just one as they all have such different styles. Ganesh Acharya has a folk style, which he displayed beautifully in Chikni Chameli.

I also like Farah Khan, Saroj Khan, and Bosco and Caeser. Amongst my contemporaries, I think Priyanka Chopra is a good dancer. And any talk of dance is incomplete without mentioning Madhuri Dixit.

Right from Ek Do Teen to Dhak Dhak to Choli Ke Peeche, she has shown that Indian dances will be appreciated eternally. Look at songs like Munni and Shiela, they are the best examples of dances with a desi touch.
