Without meaningful lyrics, a singer doesn't enjoy singing, says Harshdeep Kaur, who has delivered hit numbers such as "Katiya karoon" and "Ik Onkar". She adds language is no bar for a song's success in Bollywood.

"Lyrics are very crucial to a song. If they are not good, you don't feel the joy of singing. Music and lyrics both are very important and goes hand in hand, " Harshdeep told.

The singer, who got fame by participating in reality show "Junoon - Kuch Kar Dikhaane Ka", feels language doesn't decide the life of a song in Bollywood.

"I think language doesn't matter. If a song is good, it will do well anyway. But from past few years Punjabi has become a universal language. So, even if people don't understand the language, they enjoy the music, " said the 25-year-old.

"My song 'Katiya karoon' in 'Rockstar' is a Punjabi song. Since the music was made by good music director A.R. Rahman, the song made a good impact. Language apart, it was the good music of the song that I think most people liked and enjoyed, " added the singer who is currently busy with her upcoming live music series "Coke Studio 2" on MTV.

Delhi girl Harshdeep learned music from her father and started singing at the age of six. Other than exploring different styles of music like Indian classical, Western classical and world music, she is known for her Sufi songs.

But she clarifies that she doesn't stick to Sufi singing.

"It's not true, I have tried and touched all types of music and singing styles. Whatever style comes, I try to sing in that. In Bollywood, there is a huge scope for singing in various styles. Bollywood is very versatile, " she said.

She launched her spiritual album "Ik Onkar" on Japji Sahib, a song composed by Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of the Sikh faith.

Right now she is looking forward to the 13th International Indian Film Academy awards as she is nominated for the best playback singer female award. The three day event starts June 7 in Singapore.

"No preparations as such but I'm very excited about the nomination. I think it's one of the biggest and prestigious awards of the country and it's actually grand for me as well. I'm looking forward to a great weekend, " she said.
