Filmmaker Aditya Chopra turned 41 on Monday. Aditya, born on May 21, 1971, is the elder son of veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra.

Aditya's film career kicked off at the age of 18 as an assistant director to Chopra in the films ‘Chandni' (1989), ‘Lamhe' (1991) and ‘Darr' (1993).

He gained fame at the age of 23 for directing and writing the 1995 blockbuster hit movie Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (DDLG).

Apart from DDLG he is known for directing films like Mohabbatein (2000), and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008).

As a producer he made films like Dil To Pagal Hai, Veer-Zaara, Chak De! India, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Band Baaja Baaraat and Ladies vs Ricky Bahl.

And as a writer, he showed his creativity in films like New York, Bunty Aur Babli and Mohabbatein.

Aditya tied knot with his high school girlfriend Payal Khanna but later the couple filed for divorce in April 2009.

He is said to be romantically involved with actor Rani Mukherji.
