Shahid was asked to wear the juti or the Indian Mojri for his character of Javed in the Kunal Kohli-directorial.
"I had a lot of shoe bites when I wore them for the first time. It takes a long time for your feet to get used to them. I used to stuff cotton on my ankles and bandage my feet before I could wear them. I had cuts all over my feet within the first few days. It was one painful experience," said Shahid.
He remained undeterred, and even shot a song wearing them. However, he says the memories of the juti will stay with him for a long time.
"More so because I had to dance with them on for a song. It used to come off my feet and fly. Kunal would often say -- 'It's a nice shot but let's go for one more take as the juti has flown away.'
"I don't think I will wear them for a long time to come," quipped the 31-year-old.
"Teri Meri Kahaani", releasing June 22, also features Shahid's "Kaminey" co-star Priyanka Chopra.
Their chemistry worked very well for the Vishal Bharadwaj movie, and fans are hoping to see them revive it yet again for "Teri Meri Kahaani", a love story set in three different eras.
The music of the film is already being appreciated.
