Abhinav Kashyap's second film Kaarnaama is a full-fledged love story about a hoodlum's unrequited love for a girl who has only contempt for what he represents.
We've good reason to believe that the director is keen to cast his Dabangg heroine Sonakshi Sinha opposite Ranbir Kapoor.
Says a source, "Ranbir and Sonakshi are an untried pair and would serve the script's purpose very well. Ranbir plays a rough-talking foul-mouthed Delhi goon. The girl is a soft-spoken gentle soul. The chemistry would be perfect."
However, Viacom 18, the producers of Kaarnaama, feel introducing a new leading opposite Kapoor makes much more commercial sense. Says the source, "Viacom feels Ranbir and a new girl would balance out the script neatly."
While the matter of the leading lady remains unresolved, we can tell you with certainty that Kapoor's character will require him to spend three months at a stretch in Delhi.
Informs our source, "Every shot in Kaarnaama is to be taken in Delhi. Ranbir has never shot a film in Delhi before. His sister lives there and he's looking forward to spending off-shooting hours with her."
